Celebrate Earth Day at Boothbay Harbor Memorial Library
Join Boothbay Harbor Memorial Library for an afternoon of celebration in honor of planet Earth. Earth Day Fest will take place on Saturday, April 26 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the Library lawn at 4 Oak Street in Boothbay Harbor. This free community event is fun for all ages and will feature games, crafts, and learning all afternoon with our community partners.
This year we are joined by community partner organizations from the Boothbay Region and beyond: Bigelow Laboratory, Boothbay Region Clean Drinking Water Initiative, Boothbay Region Climate Action Team, Boothbay Region High School Interact Club, Boothbay Region Land Trust, Boothbay Sea and Science Center, Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens, Healthy Lincoln County, Knox-Lincoln Soil & Water Conservation District, Maine State Aquarium, Neighborhood Naturalist, New England Aquarium, Pedego Boothbay Harbor, and Pollination Station.
Each of these organizations will share information and activities about the work they do to raise awareness and take action to protect our planet and its natural resources. Activities of the day will include owl pellet dissection, oyster shell crafts, examples of native and invasive species, a touch table with animal artifacts, knot tying, and more. You can also grab a free soil testing kit and plant your own seed to take home and watch grow. We will even have a special guest appearance from Willow the Eastern Screech owl from Pollination Station.
In the event of rain, the event will take place in the Boothbay Harbor Fire Department building at 11 Howard Street.
